How DCA Calculator Calculations Work
The DCA Calculator helps you understand how recurring Bitcoin purchases can influence long-term accumulation. It does not predict the future price of Bitcoin or attempt to identify the best time to buy. Instead, it performs calculations based on the parameters you enter.
By changing the purchase amount, investment frequency, investment period, and expected Bitcoin price, you can compare different scenarios and evaluate their potential results.
What Parameters Are Used?
The calculator uses four main parameters:
- Purchase amount
- Purchase frequency
- Investment period
- Expected Bitcoin price
Based on this information, the calculator calculates:
- Total amount invested
- Number of purchases
- Total Bitcoin accumulated
- Average purchase price
- Estimated portfolio value
How Is the Amount of Bitcoin Calculated?
Each purchase is converted into Bitcoin using the market price at the time it is made.
For example, if the price of Bitcoin is 100,000 USD, an investment of 100 USD will buy 0.001 BTC.
If the price later falls to 50,000 USD, the same 100 USD will buy 0.002 BTC.
After each purchase, the calculator adds the acquired Bitcoin to the total, building your accumulated BTC balance over time.
How Is the Average Purchase Price Calculated?
The average purchase price shows how much you paid, on average, for one Bitcoin across all your recurring purchases.
When the market rises, new purchases are made at higher prices. When the price falls, the same amount of money buys more Bitcoin at a lower price.
As a result, the average purchase price gradually changes, reflecting all purchases made during the selected period.
How Is the Portfolio Value Calculated?
Once the total amount of accumulated Bitcoin has been determined, the calculator calculates the portfolio value.
It uses a simple formula:
Amount of BTC × Expected Bitcoin Price = Portfolio Value
For example, if you have accumulated 0.25 BTC and the expected Bitcoin price is 200,000 USD, the estimated portfolio value will be 50,000 USD.
Why Do You Buy More BTC When the Market Falls?
With the DCA strategy, the amount of each purchase remains the same, while the amount of Bitcoin purchased depends on the current market price.
When the price falls, the same amount of money buys more BTC.
When the price rises, it buys less BTC.
That is why, during prolonged market corrections, the amount of accumulated Bitcoin grows more quickly, while the average purchase price gradually decreases.
What Do the Calculation Results Show?
After the calculation is complete, the calculator displays the following key metrics:
- Total Invested — the total amount of money invested.
- Number of Purchases — the number of recurring purchases made.
- BTC Accumulated — the total amount of Bitcoin acquired.
- Average Purchase Price — the average price paid for one Bitcoin across all purchases.
- Portfolio Value — the estimated value of the accumulated Bitcoin at the selected price.
These metrics help you evaluate the results of your chosen strategy and compare different accumulation scenarios.
Why Doesn't the Calculator Predict the Price of Bitcoin?
It is important to understand that the calculator does not attempt to predict future market movements.
The expected Bitcoin price is entered by the user, while the calculator simply performs calculations based on the data provided.
This allows you to model different scenarios and understand how changes in the parameters affect the final result.
Try Different Scenarios
Don’t limit yourself to a single calculation.
Change the purchase amount, investment frequency, investment period, or expected Bitcoin price, and compare the results.
Trying different scenarios helps you better understand how each parameter affects long-term Bitcoin accumulation.
Important
✅ The calculator performs mathematical calculations based on the data entered by the user.
✅ It does not predict the price of Bitcoin and should not be considered investment advice.
✅ All results represent a model of the selected scenario and do not guarantee future returns.
✅ Exchange fees and possible spreads are not included in the calculations, so the actual result may differ slightly.
